AUK Celebrates Multiculturalism Day
Duhok, Kurdistan Region – On October 27, 2025, the Student Government at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) celebrated Multiculturalism Day 2025, an event that highlighted the vibrant diversity of the AUK community. The celebration showcased a diverse range of cultures, including French, Armenian, Dutch, American, Iraqi, Assyrian, Yazidi, and Kurdish, proudly represented by the students, faculty and staff.
Sponsored by Talabat, the event welcomed small businesses from Duhok, who presented their unique products and crafts — an initiative aimed at supporting community entrepreneurship. Attendees enjoyed traditional Kurdish music, freshly baked Kurdish bread with honey, traditional dishes, and coffee beans from around the world, adding a global flavor to the celebration.
A highlight of the day was the Mini Multiculturalism Pass, created by the Student Government. Students collected stickers from each cultural booth and entered a lottery draw, where seven prizes of AUK-themed merchandise were awarded.
The goal of the event was to celebrate cultural diversity and promote mutual understanding. It aimed to create an interactive and inclusive space where students could share traditions, connect across cultures, and strengthen community engagement.
